New Faculty Orientation

As the department leader, you are responsible for onboarding new faculty. Resources from the department leader handbook [insert link], People Services' new employee orientation, and CTLR resources like our orientation to teaching and learning and new faculty workshops can help you with this.

If you’re considering ways to orient new faculty more efficiently/consistently, connect with the Instructional Associates for support. Strategies include:

  • creating a training checklist/agenda with timelines, delegation, and engaging activities;
  • creating a Moodle shell for a blended orientation – faculty complete some asynchronous orientation on their own (and get some Moodle practice), along with in-person department orientation.

Investing in reusable/scalable training can have long-term beneficial impacts for the department and save some of your valuable time.
