Gen AI - Rethinking Assessments
November 4, 2025
12 pm to 1 pm
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has created significant assessment challenges in higher education. This interactive workshop will provide a framework of “wicked problems” to approach assessment design iteratively and recognize the need for compromise and context consideration (Corbin, T., et. al., 2025, The wicked problem of AI and assessment). You’ll explore a process for evaluating an assignment/assessment’s validity, and then vulnerability to GenAI and steps for redesign. Rather than focusing on “catching” AI use, we will explore how assessments can be adapted to provide meaningful, accurate measures of learning. Bring an assessment to discuss/revise if you can, but all are welcome. Facilitated by Emily Simpson and Francesco Barillaro.
